The Role of SANAS
- The South African National Accreditation System (SANAS), is recognized by the South African Government as the single National Accreditation Body that gives formal recognition that Laboratories, Certification Bodies, Inspection Bodies, Proficiency Testing Scheme Providers and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) test facilities are competent to carry out specific tasks
- SANAS has been mandated to accredit BEE verification agencies in terms of accreditation criteria (R47)

Why BEE Verification?
A legitimate verification certificate is a business tool that enables a company to be recognized for its B-BBEE status with the confidence that your status is accurate and verifiable. The process, done once a year will save businesses time since you will not have to provide possible clients with this information every time you tender. A B-BBEE verification certificate is the best way to effectively prove your empowerment status and to therefore position yourself competitively in government tenders and other business pitches.

- To facilitate participation by the dtic, and other relevant role-players, in ABP’s activities.

- The Role of BEE Verification Agencies

- According to SANAS, the role of BEE Verification agencies includes the following:

- To assess,verify and validate B-BBEE information for decision making.
- To verify both disclosed and undisclosed B-BBEE-related information
- Verification should be based on principles contained in B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice as well as relevant Section 9 Gazetted Sector Codes
- To provide a Verification Certificate and Report that is valid for 12 months
- To evaluate B-BBEE transactions and scenarios.
- Verification Agencies may include indicative B-BBEE scores on scenarios presented.
